Figure out your finances.

That means determining how much money you can raise for your down payment and how much you can afford to pay on a monthly basis. Go to a lender to find out the size of mortgage you qualify for and get pre-approved. Better yet, use a mortgage broker to find you the best mortgage rate possible. When calculating the costs of home ownership, remember to plan for homeowner's insurance, property taxes, private mortgage insurance (if required), utilities, repairs, and maintenance.

FREE Credit Report: You ae entitled to one fre credit report per year for each of the three credit bureaus. I suggest you rotate the information by pulling one from each bureau every four months. In order to obtain your FICO score it will cost you a little bit of money but this number is what qualifies you for a mortgage. It can range from 400-900.

 I am a former Board Member of HOMEPLACE Community Land Trust (HCLT).

I'm active with the  local Habit for Humanity of Huron Valley through an outreach ministry with  St. Luke Lutheran Church  of Ann Arbor. A variety of skills are needed for the local Habitat: fund-raising, meals for workers, calling/ organizing/ scheduling and of course "pounding nails."

I am proud member of the Rotary Club of Chelsea. In addition to local issues, the international goal is Polio eradication worldwide. Rotary is comprised of current and former Chelsea business owners and managers. Luncheon meetings are at 12:15 PM every Tuesday, and held at the Common Grill. Visitors are always welcome!
